Posted Today is an Exploration of the remaining portions of the Women’s Dormitory at the New York Farm Colony
This is a walkthrough of the non collapsed portion of the Women’s Dormitory at the New York Farm Colony. Starting on the upper level I venture onto an outside walkway to check out the observation tower. At the end of this video I created a short film with historical narrative about the building style, workers on the farm colony and a sad portion of the life of Alice Austen. Alice Austen (1866 – 1952) was one of America’s earliest and most prolific female photographers, and over the course of her life she captured over 7,000 images. In 1950, Alice went to live in the New York City Farm Colony and was declared a pauper. In recent videos the audio was sketchy due to failing mic. Now that problem has been solved with new mic and better audio production. This is a quick walkabout of the Dormitory for Male Help, 3 short videos stitched together of varied features.
We are very excited about how this has been an evolving learning experience for us. New gear, and continual video editing education!
We have alot more footage and videos forthcoming. Recently we were at the Holy Holy Holy Altar and Witches Well in Mount Holly NJ, which was alot of fun and that video is coming this week
